In addition to prescribing psychiatric medications, Jenna provides comprehensive care as a dual-board-certified and licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Using her 15 years of clinical and scientific experience, and evidence-based interventions that are tailored for her clients, Jenna develops effective treatment plans for adults across the lifespan experiencing a range of mental health concerns. She understands the unique pressures faced by individuals in our region. Whether navigating the intense academic demands of high school and college or the complex interplay of professional and family life, Jenna provides a safe, non-judgmental space where your experiences are validated, and your wellness is the priority.
Jenna previously worked in drug discovery as a medicinal chemist at AstraZeneca, a role she entered after earning her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa and her Master of Science in Chemistry with a focus on Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In the laboratory, she designed and optimized new pharmacological agents, deepening her understanding of how various medications interact with biological systems at the molecular level. This has informed her decision-making regarding dosing, interactions, and potential side effects. While complex psychiatric care can sometimes require iterative approaches to medication management, Jenna strives to reduce prolonged periods of trial-and-error in prescribing by implementing individualized strategies that take consider each client’s distinct biological characteristics.
After her role in pharmacologic research, Jenna earned an additional Master of Science in Nursing from Boston College and later a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from George Mason University. She worked for over a decade at Capital Women's Care in Fairfax, VA, and has provided outpatient medication management services at a mental health practice in Loudoun County. Her experience encompasses a broad range of psychiatric care, including treating Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Bipolar and Mood Disorders, as well as conducting psychiatric evaluations, safety assessments, and crisis management when needed.
With expertise in reproductive psychiatry, women’s health, and mental wellness, Jenna addresses concerns that are often linked to hormonal transitions throughout a woman's life.
Because hormones and emotions are intertwined, particularly during "windows of vulnerability,” such as puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and the stages of menopause, Jenna manages medication for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, perinatal mental health, and the mood and cognitive changes during phases of menopause. Because no person should feel dismissed by the medical system, Jenna listens carefully and earnestly assesses symptoms to recommend the best proven strategies to help her clients rebound during life’s most challenging periods. Jenna’s treatment philosophy is holistic, considering how physical health and lifestyle factors contribute to overall emotional stability.
At Clarity Psychological Services, Jenna participates as an essential part of our collaborative, multidisciplinary team. She recognizes that medication is usually most effective when used in conjunction with therapy and works in partnership with our psychologists, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure that her services are integrated into a broader therapeutic framework. Jenna believes that effective treatment requires a strong professional relationship between provider and client, as well as client participation in the development of treatment plans.
A resident of Loudoun County, Jenna lives with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. Outside of her professional work, she practices wellness through weight training, reading, and cooking. She is committed to helping individuals in our community reach their mental health goals.
